The brand new website we developed for Luscinia Choir is the first we have done completely virtual. In other words, we have only had contact with the client via email and Skype during the entire design process and production time.

Luscinia Choir is a relatively small choir with members of all ages from many different nationalities who share their passion of singing. The main purpose of the website is to give the choir a small online presence. They also want to use the website to share documents and to announce upcoming performances with a handy form that friends and family can use to make reservations.

For the design of the website we basically had the logo, a color suggestion and the words “simple” and “playful” to go on. We have used the chirping bird of the logo in a couple of different ways and have used CSS3 to get nice rounded corners.

In terms of development we of course have chosen WordPress as the CMS platform and we built a theme from scratch with only a few plugins. Apart from the “usual suspects” the Events Manager plugin by David Benini and Justin Tadlock’s Members plugin proved to be invaluable.

The screenshot below is taken while logged in as a member, the “Members Only” menu in the sidebar does not show for website visitors that are not a member of Luscinia Choir.

We are in the process of developing a website for Your Spanish Cellar, but they already wanted a provisional “under construction” site up to be able to use the email addresses that come with the account and of course to use the site itself as some point of reference.

The Launchpad WordPress theme immediately came to mind, but we wanted a little bit more than just a link to FeedBurner and that is why we developed this WordPress ComingSoon Theme.

Unlike Launchpad where there is only an index file, this ComingSoon WordPress Theme consist of a header, index and footer template as well as a page and a 404 template. Obviously there is a separate stylesheet too. The FeedBurner subscribe function is hard-coded into the theme, but the text above it is a normal Post and can therefore be adapted at will.

With only a few customizations the WordPress ComingSoon Theme can be used for any website!

Although the concept of this client is not new, personalised books for children, the drawings in the first edition are gorgeous and rich with colours.
We have tried to develop the site using a playful theme the client chose to use and have made many adaptions to make this WordPress theme suitable for this website.

The website has been made 100% multilingual using the indispensable WPML plugin. For now the languages are English, Dutch and Spanish and in the future it is relatively easy to add additional languages.
Other additions are the use of a flash based page flip gallery to show some pages of the current book and a payment facility using PayPal as shown on the screenshot below. For the order form we have used the easy customisable Contact Form 7 plugin.

Client started blogging almost 3 years ago, but the site (Wines of Valencia) never really came off the ground as the CMS was not very user-friendly. Client likes to write short stories or blurbs of things that come up and he wanted his new blog to reflect that.

The choice for WordPress was an obvious one and we chose to develop the theme especially for the client, instead of taking an existing theme, breaking it down and rebuilding it. We chose to place only excerpts of the posts on the home page and developed a function that the client can choose to upload a picture or not; when he does, a thumbnail of the picture will be shown, but when there is no image the excerpt still looks good.

On a separate page from the normal blog client can add posts that he has published elsewhere. We have done that in order not to clutter his personal blog with 3rd party publications and still give client the chance to publish as much as he can or wants to.
Furthermore we have integrated client’s Twitter and Adegga streams.

Portfolio website of Hollie Wittman & Brent Miller. Client needed a portfolio website of all the work he and his wife have produced over the past years. Naturally we chose for the WordPress CMS to manage all that content. Client wanted a website that needed as little scrolling as possible and in one view it should be possible to see what the site is all about. We think we have managed to develop the portfolio website according to these wishes.

due to the fact that client will upload many (large) pictures we chose for hosting them separately on Picasa and use the Shashin plugin in combination with Highslide. The latter is possible because client is NGO.

A 2-column WordPress Theme created originally for The ginger loft cafe & lounge in Valencia as a proposal for their website re-development. The design is based on their current site, with a few additions. Backbone the website has received an entire makeover in order to ensure ease of use, professional content- and site management and implementation of much needed Search Engine Optimisation.

Client had website put together by slicing up an image and loading that in a table. This resulted in no SEO whatsoever plus the inability to make any changes or add any content. Since the content was static mostly and client’s budget low, we decided to hand-code the HTML and PHP for the website in combination with CSS. With improved Search Engine Optimisation, the website came up within top three of searches on many related keywords in a matter of days.
